7. Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Our Preliminary project wasto demonstrate that we were capable of continuity editing, the primary purpose of which is to 'smooth over the inherent discontinuity of the editing process and to establish a logical coherence between shots'. The idea is to make the editing invisible to the viewer allowing them to focus on the narrative and action.

This is a lot different to what I intended with my final opening sequence as my whole idea was to disorientate the viewer and make them feel uneasy when watching it. What I learnt that is that the audience is used to watching dramas and films that use the continuity editing, with use of the 180 degree rule and the match on action. In order to have the viewer feel uneasy about something they are looking at it did not just mean using images - like the close up on the eyes, the spinning clock - that were weird, but trying to work on the way the sequence was put together.

With this in mind I tried to mix up continuity and use clips and footage that were not linked by any story but were linked in tersm of imagery and themes in the film.
